Commercial Contracts Legal Specialist

The Commercial Contracts Legal Specialist will lead the efficient management of commercial contracts using technology-driven solutions to enhance effectiveness and streamline workflows. This role will focus primarily on contract lifecycle management, leveraging legal technology tools, and ensuring compliance with legal standards.

Key responsibilities

Contract Management

  • Draft, review and negotiate various commercial contracts, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Managing contract lifecycles from initiation to renewal or termination, including tracking key dates and obligations.

Technology Integration

  • Implementing and optimising technology solutions for contract management and workflow automation.
  • Collaborating with IT and relevant stakeholders to integrate legal technology tools and platforms effectively.
  • Training team members on the use of legal technology tools to maximize efficiency and accuracy.

Legal Compliance

  • Staying updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards affecting commercial contracts.
  • Providing guidance to internal teams on legal risks and compliance matters related to contract negotiations and execution.

Process Improvement

  • Identifying opportunities for process optimisation, standardisation, and efficiency improvements within contract management workflows.
  • Developing and implementing best practices for contract management and document automation.

Commercial Insight

  • Providing strategic and commercial advice on contract terms, negotiations, and business implications.
  • Collaborating with business units to understand their needs and objectives, aligning contract terms accordingly.

Competencies (knowledge/skills/experience)

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in commercial contract management, legal operations, or related legal roles.
  • Proficiency in legal technology tools such as contract management software, e-signature platforms, and document automation tools.
  • Strong understanding of commercial contract terms, legal compliance, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to drive process improvements and adapt to changing business needs.

Education & qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, or related field; legal certification preferred.
