Sales Development Representative

Location: Hybrid / Reading

Role purpose

This is a hands-on outbound sales development role, responsible for generating qualified sales opportunities for the Business Development team through targeted prospecting, lead qualification and high-quality meeting booking.

As Sales Development Representative, you will act as one of the first points of contact with prospective advice firms. You will identify target firms, research decision makers, engage prospects by phone, email and LinkedIn, understand their current challenges and qualify opportunities that can be progressed to Business Development Consultants.

The role sits within the Marketing and Demand Generation team, reporting to the Head of Demand Generation, but will work closely with Business Development, Sales, Product Marketing and Campaigns. This is important because the SDR function connects marketing activity, outbound prospecting and sales pipeline creation. The successful candidate will help turn campaign interest, target account insight and outbound activity into measurable sales opportunities.

This role is particularly suited to someone early in their sales career who is motivated by targets, resilient on the phone, curious about the financial advice market and excited by the opportunity to build a career in B2B SaaS, fintech or financial services sales.

  • Research firms before outreach to understand their size, proposition, technology stack, client base and likely pain points.
  • Identify relevant decision makers and influencers, including business owners, advisers, operations leaders, compliance leaders and technology stakeholders.
  • Build, maintain and prioritise target account lists in line with GTM campaigns, events, webinars and agreed sales priorities.

Lead qualification and meeting booking

  • Qualify prospects against agreed criteria, including firm fit, current advice process, technology needs, growth priorities and buying potential.
  • Ask thoughtful discovery questions to understand business challenges, current processes and opportunities to improve efficiency, compliance, consistency and client outcomes.
  • Clearly articulate Dynamic Planner’s value at a high level, including our AI-powered advice platform, risk profiling heritage, integrations and ability to support scalable advice delivery.
  • Progress qualified opportunities to the relevant Business Development Consultant or Sales lead with clear notes, context and recommended next steps.

Marketing campaign and event follow-up

  • Work closely with Marketing to follow up website enquiries, webinar attendees, event delegates, content downloads, campaign responders and target account activity.
  • Support ABM and GTM initiatives by turning campaign engagement into conversations with named accounts and priority segments.
  • Provide timely feedback on messaging, objection patterns, lead quality, prospect language and market themes to improve future campaigns.
  • Help ensure no good-fit prospect interest is left dormant because of slow or inconsistent follow-up.

CRM and data management

  • Accurately record all activity, outcomes, notes, next steps and lead status changes in Gong or Salesforce.
  • Maintain high-quality prospect and account data, including contact details, roles, firm information and qualification notes.
  • Track outreach, conversations, meetings booked, conversion rates, follow-up SLAs and pipeline contribution.
  • Support reporting on campaign performance, outbound activity, SQL creation and sales pipeline generation.
Collaboration with Sales and Go-to-Market teams
  • Collaborate with Business Development Consultants on account strategy, meeting preparation and follow-up priorities.
  • Work with Product Marketing and Campaigns to understand propositions, proof points, competitor themes and customer pain points.
  • Support GTM activity across webinars, events, adviser campaigns, partner activity and priority product launches.
  • Represent the voice of the prospect internally by sharing what advice firms are saying, what is resonating and where objections are arising.

Personal performance and continuous improvement

  • Work towards clear activity, conversation, meeting, contact, SQL and pipeline targets.
  • Continuously improve call quality, discovery questioning, objection handling and meeting conversion.
  • Use coaching, call reviews and performance data to improve confidence, productivity and commercial impact.

  • Strong telephone communication skills, with confidence starting conversations, asking questions and engaging senior decision makers.
  • Excellent written communication, including clear, professional and accurate follow-up emails and LinkedIn messages.
  • A resilient and persistent approach, with the motivation to keep going when prospecting is challenging.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage call lists, follow-up tasks, campaign priorities and CRM administration.
  • Curiosity and commercial awareness, with an interest in understanding how advice firms operate and how technology can improve efficiency, compliance and client outcomes.
  • Comfortable working to targets and being measured on activity, conversations, meetings, SQLs, pipeline contribution and data quality.
  • Experience using Salesforce or another CRM system is desirable, but not essential.
  • Financial services, fintech, SaaS or B2B sales experience is desirable, but not essential.
  • Positive team player with a growth mindset and a willingness to learn from Marketing, Sales and customer-facing colleagues.

Education & qualifications

Relevant experience, communication ability and potential are more important than formal qualifications. A degree or qualification in business, marketing, communications, sales, finance or a related discipline is beneficial, but not essential.

The priority is someone who is motivated, organised, resilient, confident speaking to prospects and able to learn the financial advice and fintech market quickly.
